Tour the C-119 “Flying Boxcar” at Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum
Step inside a piece of aviation history at the Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum, located at the Columbus Municipal Airport. The museum will open its C-119 “Flying Boxcar” to the public for free tours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This rare aircraft display offers visitors a chance to get an up-close look at the legendary military transport plane and learn more about its role in aviation history. Donations to support the care and maintenance of the display are gladly accepted.
The museum, which is also free to visit, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests are encouraged to explore the museum’s exhibits highlighting the history of the former Atterbury Army Air Field and Bakalar Air Force Base, as well as the people, aircraft, and stories connected to Columbus’ military aviation legacy.

The Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum offers a fascinating look at Columbus’ military aviation history.
