Meet Tripp, Hotel Indigo Columbus’ Four-Legged Hotel Ambassador

This beloved Bichon Frise has made greeting guests, comforting travelers and hosting patio events part of his official job description.

A Hoosier, Born and Bred

Tripp is a Hoosier, born on August 25 in Syracuse, Indiana. This perfect puppy weighs a little over six adorable pounds. A Bichon Frise, this happy little guy might achieve 15 pounds full grown, with a little help from the UPS, Cintas and the U.S. Postal delivery people who feed him treats regularly.

A Warm Welcome from Tripp

Like his predecessor, Miles, who was also a Bichon Frise, Tripp has a long list of important job duties. Tripp has had a few years to grow into the role, and he has more than lived up to those big “paw prints.” He has mastered the art of enthusiastically greeting guests at the door, and he is equally skilled at another essential task: napping. While his favorite snoozing spot is cuddled in someone’s arms, he is also perfectly content to curl up in his bed at the front desk.

Important Job Duties

In addition to these crucial responsibilities, Tripp helps comfort guests who may be missing their own pets. He also hosts the monthly Canines & Cocktails events on the Hotel Indigo patio, which serve as fundraisers for Tripp’s charities, supporting a variety of animal-related causes.

Life as a Hotel Ambassador

Since his “hire date” a few years ago, Tripp has learned quickly that there’s no such thing as a free lunch, or a free treat, for that matter. Now a seasoned member of the Hotel Indigo team, he spends his days exploring the hotel’s first floor, finding toys, greeting staff and guests, and occasionally dragging a stuffed penguin around the lobby.

Tripp also enjoys the spotlight and is happy to pose for photos, especially official-looking ones for his staff badge. He even has his own business cards, complete with the title of Hotel Ambassador and an email address, which he shares with pet guests so they can stay in touch.

Perks of the Job

As compensation for his nearly C-level role, Tripp enjoys a variety of perks. Every day is puppy payday, with plenty of hugs and belly rubs from guests and staff members. His expense account includes a generous supply of toys and unlimited treats, which come in handy during his many meetings with fellow pet guests. His food bowl is routinely filled with the finest complimentary K-9 cuisine.

Every Wednesday, Tripp is treated to a spa day at Mutt Tubbs, where he is pampered and primped so he can remain “dressed for success.” Best of all, he gets to live at the hotel full-time, surrounded by constant companionship and admiration.

A Guest Favorite

Tripp has more than proven himself on the job. Guests and staff members alike have given him rave reviews, and his people skills are excellent. His colleagues describe him as “SUPER BUSY,” often enthusiastically greeting every guest at the door. As a regular presence at the front desk, Tripp has demonstrated that he is a quick learner and a natural fit for his role.
